A chemical peel is a minimally invasive procedure that helps improve the appearance of the skin. During the procedure Dr. Omron applies topical solutions to the face, neck, chest or hands to remove dead skin cells. The solution penetrates into the skin causing dead skin cells to peel off. The new skin is smoother, younger, and more refined-looking even after one peel. Three to five peels are recommended for optimal results. A courtesy VISIA Computer Skin Complexion Analysis is done before the procedure to advise you how many peels will be necessary to get optimal results.
What are the Skin Indications for the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance?
The Blue Peel RADIANCE™ is indicated for blemish prone skin, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, unwanted pigmentation, scars, large pores, and sun damage. It can also be used for photodamaged and pigmented skin of the Neck and Décolletage (chest) areas.
How Does it Work?
After cleaning your skin with our special Blue Peel Prep Solution Dr. Omron will then apply the Blue Peel typically to your face and neck. A mild burning sensation will occur that generally lasts only a few minutes. Then you may experience a white or bluish tint to your skin that usually washes off in 12 to 24 hours. The procedure takes about 20 minutes and does not require topical anesthetics. A courtesy VISIA Computer Skin Complexion Analysis is done before the procedure to advise you how many peels will be necessary to get optimal results.
What to Expect After Your Peel?
Depending on the strength and depth of the peel, you will experience light swelling following the procedure. Within 2 to 3 days, your skin will begin to peel. This peeling continues over the next several days. The peeling is mild in nature and there is no downtime from it. By Days 7 to 10, your skin should be healed.
After a treatment with Blue Peel RADIANCE, you will need to care for your skin to maximize and maintain results. The single most important thing to remember after any chemical peel is to wear non-chemical sun protection (SPF 50 or higher) at all times. We recommend Obagi Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50. Be sure to ask us about these products which can also be purchased in our office. We will also provide you with after-care instructions following your peel to help you maintain your skin appropriately.
What Skin Types Can the Blue Peel Radiance Treat?
What makes the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance so great is that its special formulation makes it safe for all skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel. We can safely treat African-Americans, Asians, Hispanics and other darker skin types with our anti-aging and restorative skin care treatments.
How Many Peels Do I Need?
Though results can be seen with a single Blue Peel Radiance treatment, optimal results are usually achieved with a series of 3-5 peels. This will result in significant skin repair and give you a healthy glow to your skin. The peel works great not only as an active treatment, but also as a preventative treatment. Each peel can be repeated as often as every two weeks, if necessary, for damaged skin. Treatment is done with the VISIA Computer Skin Complexion Analysis system to insure the best possible results.
How Badly Will I Peel?
The skin peeling associated with the Blue Peel Radiance is a very light one. Peeling usually starts around days 2-3 after your peel. By days 7 to 10, your skin should be healed. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible.
